In France, more and more nuclear power plants are being supplemented or replaced by solar and wind farms. Here, too, politicians are increasingly relying on renewable energies - this was confirmed by President Emmanuel Macron with further draft laws in September. Macron has set himself the goal of building around 50 offshore wind farms in France by 2050. He also hopes to increase the amount of solar energy produced tenfold and double the output of onshore wind farms in the same period. Last year, the share of renewable energy sources in electricity generation in France was 24 percent. This makes it possible to achieve the goal of increasing their share to 40 percent by 2030.
The newly elected Italian government wants to not only meet its own energy needs by expanding renewable energy sources, but also become an energy center for Europe. Italy aims to export energy to other macedonia consumer email list member states and has already built the first offshore wind farm in the Mediterranean, which has been producing electricity since August 2022. Italy aims to have 55 percent of renewable energy in its electricity mix by 2030, compared to targets of over 75 percent in Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.
With a total investment of 16.3 billion euros, the Spanish government wants to exploit the potential of environmentally friendly hydrogen. Both the production of hydrogen and support for industry in the use of the new technologies are to be promoted. A share of renewable energies of 75 percent is to be achieved by 2030.
In September 2022, the Netherlands put the world's first offshore hydrogen cluster into operation. With the pilot project, the government wants to further expand its own hydrogen production. On a disused gas drilling platform off The Hague, electricity from wind power is bundled and seawater is split using electrolysis. The resulting green hydrogen is transported to the mainland via the existing gas pipelines. Here, too, the share of renewable energies in electricity generation is to be 75 percent by 2030.
