EITHERpenAI has just made SearchGPT available to all its users . This is the AI-based search engine presented in July 2024 and launched at the end of October of the same year with which the company hopes to claim a piece of the worst distributed and most monopolized pie in the digital market: that of online searches.
With Google accounting for more than 90% of all online searches worldwide, the proposal of the company led by Sam Altman is in line with other similar ones made by companies in the AI environment such as Perplexity but with all the muscle and appeal of the most popular artificial intelligence tool in the world, ChatGPT.
What is SearchGPT and how does it work?
As the company explained in a statement, SearchGPT fuses the power of its AI models with real-time information from the web. This advancement offers fast and accurate answers with clear and relevant sources. Designed to improve the search experience, it aims to transform the way we obtain information online, combining the convenience of a natural language interface with the value of obtaining up-to-date data .
In addition to extending its availability to its entire user base, fusion database those registered on its free plan, OpenIA has taken the opportunity to implement a series of new features in SearchGPT. Firstly, the response speed has been increased in both the desktop and mobile versions.
On the other hand, it will now be possible to use ChatGPT Search with the advanced voice mode . In addition to this, it will be possible to select it as the default search engine , whatever your preferred browser on your computer.
Changing the web search experience
SearchGPT aims to simplify the search process by enhancing the conversational capabilities of AI models with real-time updated data . This allows users to find answers, whether in text, image or video , more quickly and efficiently, reducing the effort required to obtain accurate information.
As you can see in this example, when a user asks when he or she will be able to see a particular type of mollusk in a particular place, the tool responds by offering images of that mollusk, as well as reasoned answers about when the low tide periods will be most conducive to that activity. In other words, the tool “understands” that in order to see those mollusks, the user will need the tide to be low and gives him or her the exact time of the appropriate moment:
This is SearchGPT, the search engine with which OpenAI wants to compete with Google
