MYSPACE IS SHAKING OVER THE RENEWAL OF ITS CONTRACT WITH GOOGLE

Post by asimj1 »

MySpace, the social network bought by Rupert Murdoch in 2005 for 580 million dollars, is trying to change its face in view of the imminent renegotiation of its advertising contract with Google, which is feared to be agreed upon at a lower price.

In 2006, the search engine paid 900 million dollars to bank data Murdoch's company, but it is very unlikely that this deal will be repeated, so the magnate decided to remove the founders of the company from their positions, replacing them with executives he trusts to give the impression that the platform is changing course to avoid being left behind, after the fierce competition posed by Facebook.

MySpace currently has 126 million users, while Facebook has 200 million, a growth rate of 116% and a diverse demographic, while Murdoch's network is stagnating and fears that Mark Zuckerberg will take over its contract.
