Classification of journalistic genres

Post by shukla7789 »

Scholars propose a classification of journalistic genres based on two criteria: communicative intentionality and the structure of the journalistic report. Therefore, he divides the genres into two main categories:

Informative genres: note, news, report and interview.
Opinion genres: editorial, commentary, article, review/criticism, chronicle, column, caricature and letter.
Opinion genres are characterized by the presence of the journalist's opinion, which seeks to convince the reader of a jordan mobile database perspective. In addition, these texts combine information with the author's arguments, becoming a bridge between the facts and their interpretation.

Journalistic genres in different media
Silva (2007) expands the discussion by classifying journalistic genres from the perspective of the text producer. In this way, she distinguishes genres into:

Journalistic: written by professionals in the field, such as news, editorials and interviews.
Non-journalistic: texts such as horoscopes and recipes, which do not follow the structure and communicative purpose of traditional journalism.
Silva's research (2007) also compares the presence of genres in newspapers and magazines, pointing out that, although there are similarities between the editorials of both, some genres are more common in one medium than in the other.

For example, magazines often include cultural “tips,” book summaries, and letters to the reader, while newspapers contain obituaries, weather reports, and company rankings.
