The new layout makes it more prominent that you can add the location of your post and who you are with. By mentioning your friends by name you get their full names (clickable) in your status update and they automatically receive a notification at the top of their screen. This results in a red 1 in the globe at the top, no Facebook user can resist the urge to click on it to see what this update is. More powerful than a message in the timeline!
Previously, you could only add the location in the Facebook mobile app, so the way locations are used is going to change. No longer just mobile but also in the browser and again you can choose with whom you want to share your location. More background information about locations can be found here.
There is more to tag than before
You used to have to be friends with someone or like their Facebook fan page iran phone number list but now you don't have to tag them in a photo. Sometimes it's nice to tag people in a photo, but you don't necessarily want to become Facebook friends, so that awkward silence is gone.
For companies this means one less incentive if they set up a campaign in which photos have to be tagged as a contest. After all, becoming a fan of the page is no longer mandatory and such campaigns were mainly used to recruit more fans.
