fold the cut piece in half;
wrap the resulting bundle around the connection point diagonally twice;
place the bent end of such a bundle on the reinforcement rod, and also fix the other end on it;
manually or using a hook, twist the ends of the resulting wire loop.

The most common way to mechanize the process of tying reinforcement is to use a special hook. It is easy to make such a hook with your own hands; for this, you can use a piece of reinforcement that is bent into an eye on one side (for ease of rotation), and slightly bent and sharpened on the other. How to tie reinforcement for a foundation using such a device? Everything is very simple: just place the sharpened end of the hook in a wire loop and rotate it until it is tightly twisted.

How to simplify the process
If you want to further simplify the tying of reinforcement elements, you can use a power tool for this. This task is solved quite simply: take an ordinary screwdriver, into the chuck of which a bent nail is installed. Such a simple device will allow you not only to correctly tie the reinforcement structure, but also to provide it with the required reliability.
