This lack of trust in the media is partly explained by the perception of the independence of journalists. nearly 1 in 7 French people think that journalists do not resist pressure from political parties and those in power – a new damning record – and 62% think that they do not resist pressure from money.

"We have moved from a critique of the media to malta mobile number database a critique of journalists," notes Jean-Marie Charon, a media sociologist and associate researcher at the EHESS. " Before, we criticized the relationship/link with power. Today, it is the relationship with the elites that is being singled out. It is a problem of competence, certain social classes do not have the impression of speaking as equals."

As for the Internet, a quarter of French people trust it, a rate that is stable compared to last year. Regarding social networks, only 17% of those surveyed say they trust information posted by a friend. This figure reaches a little over a third of the population (36%) for publications from a media outlet. Note that those under 35 trust them more than their elders (49% vs. 32% for those aged 35 and over).
