Converse and convert!

Post by Bappy11 »

Please DO so!
What to do. How to make friends. What good tweets are.

1. Stand out and walk!
Make yourself interesting to follow. First of all, you do that with your ' bio ': the short piece of text directly under your name. The key to a good bio is a bit different in 2012 than it was a few years ago. Bios of web designers, for example, were then stuffed with hashtags followed by web-hip terms such as #socialmedia #seo #onlinemarketing, #blahbla. But bios in other sectors also became increasingly hackneyed. In bios, company descriptions and taglines you often see trends that mature and at some point become as rotten as the mentality of the Dutch football team.

I'm not saying you shouldn't tell what you do, because there's nothing wrong with that. But the message is: be distinctive, stand out. Think about what you do and show in your bio that you're an ultra hero in that area. Do you do something with language? Then use creative, original words, and striking 'twisted' conjugations. A good example is Nico Dijkshoorn : 'House poet, also outside'. Twitter users will hang on to that for a while. Nico doesn't care about the maximum length of a bio and tells you straight away that it's 'interesting'.

Also choose a good avatar . A picture of your face (cartoonized or not) or an eye-catching logo with a personal twist.

2. Add value
I can't stress this enough. Make sure your tweets add value to your followers. One of the biggest problems on Twitter today is that millions of people tweet and retweet the same thing. A groundbreaking news story is of course valuable to tweet, but for how long? Be quick. To be sure, check the trending topics and what your followers and the Twitterers you follow are tweeting about. Check your streams . Do you see your intended news story come back four or five times? Then find something else. A background article can be interesting.

Assume that most people are reasonably up-to-date on today's news. Dig a little deeper. Look for useful tools, valuable infographics, interesting blogs, events, whatever. If you come across something that you think: 'hey, that's damn useful!', then your followers will probably think the same. First consider who your followers are and whether they will actually benefit from it. Try to make a difference, help your followers a step further. That will rightly earn you respect. And followers.

3. Follow focused
Please don't try to boost your number of followers by following randomly, just because many people follow back out of politeness. That won't get you anywhere. The tweets of these people are not interesting, make your stream cluttered and they probably don't benefit from your tweets.

Look for key figures within your industry and/or interests. Who are the leaders? lebanon telegram data Who can you rightly call a guru? In short: who can you really learn from? And also look at who these heroes are followed by. These are probably people and companies with shared interests and overlapping specialties .

4. A final boss in 140 characters
On Twitter, you have 140 characters to make someone drool and click. That means you have to come across as bloody interesting and teasing. Pretend you're posting an ad for a blind date. Treat the phone number as the link you're tweeting. Don't give too much away, tease a little . Teasing works well in the form of a question. Say something important with a hint of your own perception. Create curiosity for more. Make it like you 're the reincarnation of Steve Jobs suggesting that 'the new iPlopMacOsTabletRocket' is coming out. But be credible. Don't sell bullshit. People will click, read and think: 'hey, that's not what you tweeted about, #unfollow'.

Twittering is also chatting . And chatting is something you do about interesting things with interesting people and companies. Feel free to start a conversation with someone out of the blue. As long as it interests or helps the other person, you have no reason to be shy. Imagine it like this: everyone is a backpacker and is standing in front of a hostel smoking a cigarette. If you have or need a lighter, you will make countless friends within minutes.

So search for topics that you specialize in. See what people have to say . Maybe someone has a question that you can help with or says something interesting that you can pick up on.
