Are backlinks unimportant?

Post by Shishirgano9 »

Since the Panda and Penguin updates, it is no longer a secret that a good ranking in the SERPs (search engine results pages) is not only determined by quantitative backlinks. Nowadays, significantly more factors play a role than was the case a few years ago.

Matt Cutts addresses this question in his video advertising database on YouTube. According to him, incoming links, or backlinks, are still an important signal for Google, which will continue to be reflected in the ranking. However, backlinks will probably become even less important in the future if Google sooner or later becomes better at evaluating other factors. This is referred to as a type of " expert ranking " which, regardless of the domain or website, classifies the texts of an individual author as relevant or irrelevant or evaluates them.

The status quo remains that Google cannot do without backlinks as one of the ranking factors . It is not yet known when exactly an "expert ranking" will be introduced and the relevance of backlinks will be reduced.
