1. There are no listings available yet in the auction
As I explained in the post about falling AdSense earnings , Google displays advertisers on your site according to an auction .
That is, whoever pays more for the click will have the banner displayed on their pages.
But whether an ad appears also depends on other factors such as your website's niche (some advertisers only advertise in specific segments), region and even your readers' browsing history.
Factors such as ad position, banner size, and number of ads on the page can also affect this auction.
In short, there is a whole math behind how a simple ad can appear on your website. As you read this list, you will see more points that can affect this auction.
2. You created (or edited) the ad a few minutes ago
When first created and placed on a page, your AdSense ad may take a few minutes or even hours to appear.
This is because it takes time for your page to be crawled by AdSense, for the auction to take place (see item 1 of this list) and for the “winning” ads to be selected and displayed.
Changes to an existing ad (such as changing measurements or even changing its position) can also cause it to remain blank for a period of time.
