How do search engines work?
As you can see from the data mentioned above, the internet has more pages than we can imagine. There are more than one billion, seven hundred and ten million pages on the subject of “coffee” alone, but imagine there are more than one billion, seven hundred and ten million pages on other subjects that are as diverse as possible.
When a page is published , before it is delivered to you on the first, second, third (and so on) pages of the search engine, search engines rely on algorithms to organize and classify the content.
In summary, there are three main processes for organizing and classifying a page: crawling, indexing, and displaying results.
Crawling: this is the process in which search engine robots, or Google (called Googlebot, spider, bot, etc.), identify pages to send them to the index. They use algorithms to define the priority and frequency of indexing pages;
Indexing: the bot processes each of the crawled pages to include them in its index. From there, information such as page content, publication date, publication region, title, description and data are indexed;
Displaying results: once this is done, when someone searches for “coffee”, for example, the algorithm is already prepared to find in its database and display the most relevant results for that search.
