What is an accessible URL and what influence does it have on SEO?

Post by shukla7789 »

The terms accessible URL , indexable, and crawlable are sometimes confused when they do not mean exactly the same thing. When interpreting certain statistics of your website, it is essential to handle these types of concepts accurately. In this case, we analyze what an accessible URL is, and what its differences are with other types of URLs.

What is an accessible URL
In short, an accessible URL is one that Google can crawl, access and evaluate its content.

All accessible URLs can be visited by Google, therefore they will not be restricted by any robots.txt functions.

Differences between an accessible URL and an indexed URL
Are all indexed URLs accessible? Yes, but not all accessible URLs are indexed.

The difference is that an accessible URL, i.e. a URL that skype database can evaluate, does not necessarily have to be indexed. This difference is easy to see if we take a new page as an example. From the moment robots.txt allows it, the page is accessible, and therefore available for Google to index. However, Google will take a few days to locate, evaluate and index it, so it will be an accessible page, but not indexed.

Sometimes it is Google's criteria that prevent an accessible page from being indexed. If, after evaluating it, Google perceives that the page does not have adequate content, for various reasons, it may not index it, even if it is marked as accessible.

There is also the possibility of indicating to Google that we do not want it to index one or more pages on our website. In cases where Google crawls these pages, they will also be accessible URLs, not indexed with the “noindex” tag.

What are inaccessible pages?
Since there are accessible pages, there must also be inaccessible pages. In this case, we expressly prohibit Google from crawling this content by blocking these pages with robots.txt.

There can be many reasons why a page may be inaccessible to Google, one of the most common reasons being data protection.
