Understanding what widgets are and how they work is essential, as they are a very easy way to customize your site and include the exact elements you want.
Default WordPress Widgets
By default, WordPress integrates the following widgets :
Archive displays your posts by month.
Audio Allows you to embed an audio player into your site page.
Calendar displays the calendar.
Categories displays the list or drop-down menu of post categories.
Search Integrate the search field into your site.
Recent Comments displays the most recent user comments.
Gallery View a gallery of images
Custom HTML allows you to insert HTML code
Image displays a single image.
Meta displays links for webmaster login, RSS, and WordPress.org.
Navigation Menu adds navigation menu to sidebar.
