What is edge computing?
To truly understand what impact edge computing has and what opportunities it could open up for companies in the telecommunications sector, it is good to start with a definition.
Edge computing is “ a distributed architecture of micro data centers, each capable of storing and processing data locally and transmitting this data to a centralized data center or cloud storage repository ” (source: Internet 4 Things).
In other words, it is a distributed computing model in which data processing occurs as close as possible to where the data is generated.

Despite this, cloud computing does not completely solve the problems of a centralized architecture for a number of reasons.
