Rethinking is becoming a necessity for everyone – for individuals, families, organizations, countries. In order to adapt to a new situation and find one’s place, one has to reconsider one’s life, one’s usual way of thinking and doing things, and to reassemble oneself almost anew.

We think that quarantine has slowed down the outflow, creating a trend of delayed migration. However, the very fact of the pandemic and the restrictions and additional risks associated with it - possible loss of work and income, threat to life and health, rising prices, etc. - may serve as a factor that increases migration sentiment and determination to leave. This will be evident from the statistics for 2021-2023.

Our research of youth in 2017-19 showed significant migration sentiments among Russian-speaking youth and insignificant ones among Kazakh-speaking youth. We assume that active migration will serve the trend of Kazakhstan becoming a mono-ethnic state.
