Thin content definitions
In more classic SEO we could define thin content as those URLs with little or no content. Many SEO audit tools warn us that many URLs have a number of words below X amount, and that alerted us that we were facing thin content and we kuwait whatsapp data dedicated ourselves to expanding content, merging, etc. Today in modern SEO, we define as thin content those URLs with little value for the user, regardless of the length of their content . Because if there are searches that can be solved with 50 words, neither the user nor Google will need 500, much less 5,000 with a lot of fluff.

What does Google consider thin content ?
This has also been changing over time, but broadly speaking, some practices that Google does not like and that are easy for Google to detect are:

Texts that make no sense if read by a person
Texts translated automatically without human review
Automatically generated content of any kind
Pages with obfuscation techniques
Content obtained from other sources in which we have not provided any value (be careful with press releases or news from agencies)
Google also considers copied content as thin content (not to be confused with duplicate content).
How to detect thin content on my site
You can use paid tools of course, but the first source is always direct and free: Search Console . Some clues that the tool can give you:

Unindexed URLs : This may be due to a crawling issue, but if you have crawled it and it is not indexed, there must be a reason for that.
Google has selected another URL as canonical : be careful because this could be a clue, but the reason could be different such as duplicate content or incorrect labeling of canonicals
If we receive a notice from Google about URLs removed for reasons related to these topics
How to solve thin content problems
If you have read the previous paragraphs you will have already found the answer. Ultimately it is about avoiding bad practices that are quite obvious. Can we consult other sources for information and inspiration? Of course, but let's not steal them. Can we put news or content from others on our website? Of course, but always providing our point of view or value, mentioning the official source and making sure we have permission to do so. And can we use automatic tools for generating content or translations? Yes, as long as they have a human review, the editing they need and the resulting content can be useful for our users. In the end, SEO is common sense . Then, once we obtain the list of thin content on our website, to resolve it we have two explorable paths: the best will always be to improve and expand the content and experience of a page , but that will not always be viable or profitable. In that situation, it is better to opt for a good pruning, which we will address in another post soon.
