Social Media – New Leadership

Post by Bappy11 »

Pros and cons
Together with Defence, TNO has mapped out the pros and cons of using social media for Defence. What are the advantages and opportunities, and what are the dangers and disadvantages of using social media during a mission? That was the central question. An important starting point here was improving the cooperation between the various parties. A number of pros and cons are briefly described below. The complete overview can be read in the overview map at the bottom of this page. See also this recently published publication about the opportunities of social media for the armed forces .

Social media require a different way of leadership. They break through (just like networked laos telegram data working) the traditional lines of information flows. Information flows in the defence sector traditionally run along hierarchical lines. Communication via social media goes through all levels. In this way, all hierarchical layers are provided with information. In addition, employees from hierarchically lower levels can address their hierarchically higher colleagues in an accessible way, and vice versa. These new communication possibilities, and the possibilities for sharing information, may increase solidarity. However, there is limited control over the completeness, correctness and publicity of the information distributed. The question is whether the current leadership styles fit in with this, or what should change.
