Google Adwords vs Facebook Ads

Post by Bappy11 »

Leading eMarketeer predicts that Facebook will receive a whopping $5.06 billion (€3.9 billion) in advertising revenue in 2012. That may seem like a lot, but it's still small compared to big brother Google, which earned a whopping $37.9 billion (€29.3 billion) in revenue from advertising programs like AdWords in 2011. Both companies will be competing hard for advertisers' online advertising dollars in 2012.

Facebook advertising; Search vs SocialMany people who have worked with Google cambodia telegram data Adwords in the past will quickly feel at home in Facebook ads. That is not so strange. Sheryl Sandberg – the COO of Facebook and 'number 2' after Mark Zuckerberg – was (co-)responsible for setting up the AdWords program in her previous position at Google. Many of the things she learned at that time, she will have applied again when setting up Facebook Ads.

However, there is a fundamental difference between the two advertising systems With AdWords, you show an advertisement to someone who is actively searching for your product or service. For example, someone searches for “Vans shoes” and as an advertiser I show him an advertisement of my collection of Vans shoes. On Facebook, you target (potential) consumers who like Vans or who meet the profile of the target group. You also show me as a consumer which of my friends is already a “fan” of Vans on Facebook. In short: search vs. social.
