This is an unprecedented course in Brazil and has a highly qualified teaching staff, with almost all professors holding Master's and Doctorate degrees and extensive market experience.

The Executive MBA course in Energy Recovery from Waste, the first of its kind in Brazil, was born from a partnership between the Brazilian Association for Energy Recovery from Waste (ABREN) and FGV In Company, with its program being fully customized for those seeking to promote better practices in integrated and sustainable management of solid waste, through recycling, composting and energy recovery.

The course offers training for business development in a potential investment market worth R$145 billion reais over the next 12 years, as indicated by the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI).

The issue becomes more relevant given the conditions created by the new sanitation framework (Law No. 14,026/2020), which requires all city governments to structure Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in the case of delegation of the public service of collection, transportation and environmentally appropriate disposal of urban solid waste. In addition, Brazil has the largest potential in the world for biogas production and uses only 2%, as indicated by the World Biogas Association (WBA). These are the conditions that will revolutionize the waste sector in Brazil and you cannot miss out.

The Course will be taught remotely, through synchronous (live) virtual classes mediated by technology (ZOOM videoconferencing tool) and asynchronous activities carried out in the FGV Virtual Environment (e-Class).   

Objectives:

Provide knowledge on Energy Recovery and Solid Waste Treatment for the preparation of Business Plans, in accordance with the concept of Sustainable and Integrated Waste Management (GSIR); 
Deepen and discuss in a systemic way the different theoretical-conceptual approaches, in order to support the practice of economic-financial modeling of projects; 
Enable students to integrate and articulate the necessary interdisciplinary knowledge: political, legal, regulatory, environmental, social, technical and economic-financial aspects; 
Develop the ability to conduct and analyze waste energy recovery projects; 
Discuss the interdisciplinary application of knowledge to enable students to deal with the challenges involved in planning and structuring projects; 
Promote collaboration and exchange of experiences among Course participants.
