How did Eugene Kaspersky manage to create the world-famous “Lab” that brought him such fame?
After graduating from the physics and mathematics boarding school at Moscow State University, Evgeny Kaspersky entered the Higher School of the KGB in the technical department, after which he got a job at a research institute at the Ministry of Defense.
In 1989, Kaspersky first encountered the Cascade computer virus, when he wrote his first antivirus program.
In 1992, Eugene Kaspersky achieved his first success – he created the antivirus program AVP 1.0, which after just a couple of years surpassed other similar products in tests and was recognized internationally.
Interesting fact!
Initially, the project was vk database called AntiViral Toolkit Pro ( ATP ). Using previously established connections, Kaspersky sent ATP to the University of Hamburg, but when attaching the program to the letter, he accidentally made a typo, calling the archive AVP.zip.
In tests, the development surpassed all competitors, detecting the largest number of viruses. At first, Evgeny could not figure out what other AVP he was receiving laudatory emails about. Only later did he notice an annoying typo, but it was too late to change anything - the program had already become famous under the "erroneous" name.
The Birth of the "Laboratory"
June 26, 1997 is considered the official date of the company's foundation, which Kaspersky, on the advice of his wife Natalia, named after himself.
For 10 years, Evgeny personally managed the development, and only after that he took the post of CEO of the corporation. Before that, all issues related to product sales, promotion and personnel management were handled by his wife Natalya Kaspersky.
"Kaspersky Lab"
Today, Eugene Kaspersky is the main shareholder and owner of Kaspersky Lab.
Over the 25 years of its existence, the company has grown into a huge corporation:
more than 30 representative offices in 12 countries;
over 4000 employees worldwide;
the company's fortune is estimated at $1000 million ;
The company is one of the world's top five leading manufacturers of software solutions for information security.
Its main product, Kaspersky Anti-Virus, is known to every novice user throughout the country and is successfully sold in more than 200 countries around the world.
