In a press release read to Dakaractu, the Rally of Companies in the Information and Communication Technology Sector (RESTIC) listed the five urgent challenges for the regulatory authority.

According to RESTIC, "Senegal does not appear in the ranking of the first African countries in terms of fast internet connection." And yet according to the said Rally "Senegal has subscribed to more than three submarine cables, however our country remains behind in terms of download speed and quality of services according to the English agency Cable.co.uk . In the world ranking, Rwanda occupies the 48th place in the world - the first in Africa - which also shows the delay of the continent compared to other countries on the planet. Reunion and South Africa come in second and third place at the African level with respectively (37.44 Mbps) and (28.62 Mbps). Madagascar is at the foot of the podium with its 4th place and an average connection speed of 19.29 Mbps, ahead of Nigeria (15.37 Mbps), Seychelles (14.89 Mbps) and Burkina Faso (13.43 Mbps), Morocco (13.03 Mbps) and Kenya (12.42 Mbps). Even Madagascar, in the same geographical configuration as our country as a point of passage for submarine cables, does better, much better than Senegal.

RESTIC highlights the challenge of saudi arabia mobile database and media convergence. "The issue is sensitive because it clearly raises the possibility of merging the two regulatory authorities: the telecoms and the audiovisual sector, in countries where these regulations are separate, such as in Senegal. The importance of finding spectrum for broadband applications: the growing number of mobile subscribers and the services offered on telecom networks require more and more bandwidth on telecom networks. To this end, the ITU and regulators must find adequate frequencies to cope with this development. The principle of mobile frequency neutrality must be established, regardless of the technology used."

Continuing, the Rally of Information and Communication Technology Companies added: "Compliance with net neutrality for greater dissemination of local content, the migration of interfaces is underway; today, the smartphone is replacing the television set, and the regulatory authority must support this transformation. Support for startups with regulations that allow them to develop into truly innovative companies. The contribution of digital technology to GDP now reaches 10%, however, the ecosystem for innovative companies in VAS or value-added services remains problematic. Therefore, there is an urgent need to review the deployment and development strategy of virtual operators. The ecosystem must be urgently addressed by adequate regulation that protects investors and entrepreneurs in the digital and digital sectors. Finally, Senegal presents a digital and digital landscape with strong potential, and the ARTP must ensure control of operator prices and tariffs. The cost of fixed and mobile connectivity can drop significantly in Senegal."
Ultimately, RESTIC is counting on the new DG for proactive, inclusive regulation with all stakeholders...
