Google Penguin Update V4 & Link BuildingGoogle Penguin Update V4 & Link Building
A few weeks ago, Matt Cutts (Google's head of Webspam) hinted that there would be a massive update to "Penguin" (Google's algorithm spam filter that attacks bad links). He expects it to be one of the biggest updates this year!
This update, if rumors are to be believed, could affect a large number of websites, destroy a good part of the link building actions previously carried out, and therefore affect your positioning within the results pages, your traffic, number of visitors, customers, etc.
Should we be afraid of it?
First, it is important to remember oman mobile database Google developed "Penguin" in order to prevent SEOs from manipulating its ranking algorithm by creating targeted links, sometimes (and even often) of poor quality. If you have not developed, in the past, a link creation policy or if you control each link pointing to your site, there is no reason to worry.
Second, this is also part of Google and Matt Cutts' strategies: to make people fear the worst, so that Webmasters, SEOs, etc. embark on a purification cure and clean up links, sites, etc.
Basically, no, you should not be alarmed or panic, but rather control your link policy via a complete audit and monitor over time, your traffic, its evolution, your positioning, etc.
What has Google Penguin targeted in the past?
Links designed to manipulate PageRank,
Anchor texts or link texts that are too repetitive,
Too many links from the same source (same site),
Links from low quality sites,
Links created automatically,
Links created on pages whose content is not in line with yours,
Anything that can be considered "black hat",
Any participation in link building systems such as: commercial links, sponsored links, etc.
Links that are on duplicate content, or duplicate sites
Links in web directories, article directories, and social bookmarking sites,
Automated content links, and content that does not serve the end user,
