The crowd shouts back

Then he's there. With the nonchalance of a show star, he moves down the catwalk, waving to the crowd. The red tie and blond hair are unmistakable. Perfect branding. Like for Coca-Cola or McDonald's. Trump starts ranting straight away: about his rival's missing emails and Obamacare. He promises new jobs, peace in the Middle East and iran rcs data fewer Islamists. A best-of of his program. The climax, however, is when he calls for the infamous border wall. "And who pays?" Trump asks rhetorically. "The Mexicans," "Unbelievable," says Trump. His favorite word. In these moments, he himself seems to be amazed at what he has done in the past few months.

Trump may be many things: a demagogue, a tax evader, a populist, a womanizer and a big shot. But what we tend to overlook is that he is also a gifted entertainer who gets people excited. That is not unimportant in America. No business like show business. Everything is bigger and more exaggerated here than it is here. There are still thousands of people standing outside the hall who want to get in, Trump shouts several times. It is most likely not even true. And even then, the reference would not even be necessary to prove that the mood has changed.

Then Trump invites a couple from New Jersey onto the stage.
